Events

I have been interested in events since I was a child, watching my family throw parties for our birthdays, our youth group, and even producing concerts. In addition to assisting my family with many events, I spent a large part of my college career producing many events including Open Mic- the largest event on campus. As President of FLOW, the Poetry and Spoken Word Club, I led a creative advertising campaign that attracted even more attendees and introduced Outdoor Open Mic, leading our Executive Board to its second consecutive honor as Organization of the Year.

After spending years attending and presenting at conferences and other large scale events, I went back to school to obtain a Professional Diploma in Meeting and Convention Management at New York University's School of Professional Studies. I later worked as an Events Consultant with Dominican Youth Movement USA (an organization whose conferences I previously presented at) and introduced and produced the Santacruzan, a traditional event for the Filipino-American community of Long Island.

Flores de Mayo and Santacruzan - Event Planner (2017, 2018)

Organized an annual event for the Filipino-American community at the Shrine of Our Lady of the Island, Eastport, NY

I initiated and organized a traditional Filipino religious procession for the Filipino-American community on Long Island in 2017. As part of a family team, my duties included planning and coordinating with the Shrine; gathering of youth and young adult participants and their families; advertising; and decorating flower arches. The process took place over a one-month period. With over 200 attendees, coming from all over Long Island, Queens, and Brooklyn, the first annual Flores de Mayo and Santacruzan was a great success and has now become a staple for the Filipino-American community at the Shrine of Our Lady of the Island.

Dominican Youth Movement USA - Events Consultant (2017-2018)

Documented and compiled event planning procedures into an event guide for future use plus assisted other event-related activities for the national non-profit

I worked on a year-long project creating an event guide for three major programs of the Dominican Youth Movement USA: the Youth Preaching Workshops, the National College Preaching in Action Conference, and the Dominican High School Preaching Conference. The comprehensive guide included details on all aspects of event planning including topics on venues, vendors, presenters, programming, recruitment, budget, sponsorship, and evaluation. In addition, I co-organized and ran a Youth Preaching Workshop for ten high school students; managed a team of four volunteers to assist with running the National College Preaching in Action Conference; and assisted with running the Dominican High School Preaching Conference.
